Administrative Law

Administrative law concerns matters that involve public institutions where a decision has been made by them against an individual or a group that has suffered by that decision but not so by way of criminal consequences.

There may be a revocation of a license or privilege of some sort. An individual may have been suspended or expelled from an educational institution. Other matters may include an application that got denied without proper justification.

While in administrative law, there may not be any criminal sanctions, people are nevertheless punished or deprived of an opportunity whereby the decision making body did not decide fairly. These bodies include tribunals, committees and other boards that make decisions in any given particular public institution. They are not lawyers, nor judges and these hearings do not take place in court.
